By 2041, four out of five Torontonians will be either immigrants or children of immigrants, making the GTA Canada’s largest hub for immigration.
To ensure they are connected to the opportunities they need to thrive, we must continue to invest in their success. Too many face structural barriers like housing discrimination, racism, high unemployment, and limited social networks, which increase their risk of poverty. Other groups, such as those without status, are further marginalized by precarity and ineligibility for government supports.
Newcomers are invaluable to the economic, social, and civic vitality of our communities and should be fully supported in their efforts to succeed in the GTA.
At United Way Greater Toronto, we aim to enable the social inclusion of immigrants and refugees in our communities and help them reach and develop their full potential.
